"Publically I'm going to retire. Most people think I'm dead and those who know I'm alive won't be surprised that I'm retiring due to poor health." It wasn't entirely a lie, the last two years hadn't been kind to him.
"Alright. I'll have Tseng draw up plans and we'll work out the logistics. You've been to the church- I'll need your input on how it's supposed to be rebuilt." Rufus hadn't ever been to the slums in any sector so he would need Cloud's expertise. "We want to make sure those who need it have access to the pool even if we do construction."
Cloud's eyes drifted close taking in what Rufus said. It wasn't a lie and the other had been fighting too. It seemed strange how there's little things about them that almost seemed connected or weaving together. He lets out a small sigh through his nose while opening his half way. "What are you really going to be doing? I need to know if there's anymore pieces."
He glances away at the mention of being at the church. The church was where he went to re-bandage himself. Cloud could go there to get away from everyone or at least hope to spend time to himself. "You'll want to start on the pool first since sunlight hits on it from all angles."
He looks back to Rufus. "Have you ever been out that way? Or been out anywhere since you've been healed?"
"I'm going to be working with Commissioner Tuesti. Of course, Shinra will always remain separate from the WRO but I offered to help Reeve with several projects that he wishes to implement in Edge." It would keep him busy without getting overwhelmed while he put together plans of his own for Shinra.
And selfishly he thought it would be nice to remain out of the public eye for a bit. He would always be Rufus Shinra, he would never be able to live an ordinary life but he thought he would also take the time to indulge himself in experiences to live a life that was denied to him during his entire life.
"I haven't had the chance to go anywhere. Get estimates from contractors in Edge and pass them onto me- I would have one of the Turks do it but I'm sure you could guess how well that would go."
Cloud let Reeve take care of his own business work. If that meant working with Rufus Shinra, that was their own personal relationship. Cloud wondered if the other had said it on purpose. Reeve could have many projects that would benefit help. "I don't need to know your personal business affairs."
Truthfully, he doesn't. Cloud focuses his attention on Rufus as he speaks about not having the chance to go anywhere. The disease would have kept him in doors the entire time fighting off the symptoms and doubts. Cloud knew of the darkness that constantly lingered at the back of the mind. "I will get the estimates needed and give them to you."
He presses his lips together rolling them to one side and holding them there briefly before quietly saying. "You should take the chance to go out now. Before you get too sucked up into the work that you will have ahead of you."
"Where do you suggest I go?" It was an honest question said without a hint of sarcasm. He was actually curious since he had honestly seen very little of the world. Even when he had been outside of Midgar, he had never been free to explore where he wanted to whether if he was under house arrest in Junon or when he had been kidnapped.
He had to admit that Cloud did have a point. He had every intention of throwing himself back into establishing Shinra into a new company as well as working on WRO projects with Reeve that could benefit from his assistance. There was so much to be done that there was plenty of work to go around to both of them and then some.
"You've seen more of the world than I have, Cloud. I'm curious as to what you would recommend." He has no shame in admitting that since he's sure Cloud wouldn't be surprised that Rufus had very limited experience in life outside of SEPC.
Cloud opens his mouth as the question Rufus asks. He hadn't expected one quite like that coming from the business man. Surely, he had been to other places than the normal Shinra places. He could suggest all sorts of places but would they be places he would want to see again.
His heart beat quickens within his chest as he bites at the corner of his bottom lip. What should he say? Cloud glances back over at Rufus as he grips onto his knees.
"I may have seen plenty of the world. I would go to the Forgotten City." Since the last time he had been there had been during a fight and not the other memory he had there. Cloud wondered what sort of feelings or emotions would come from there. "I don't believe I would be the best at recommending places."
If he had a choice to go back to any of the places, he's not really sure if he would. Cloud knew he could make new memories there and he would have a different memory to hold onto. But he's not sure if now is the time for it, but maybe truthfully it was.
"I don't really know what you would want to find in the places I've been to." The Forgotten City would be different from any other place he could suggest.
